5. Coast Guard Day – August 4: Founded in 1790, the United States Coast Guard is best known for its water search-and-rescue operations, but this military division also plays a large part in marine environmental protection.
🌻 Read a book that is categorized on Goodreads as military romance, or features an active-duty service member or a veteran of any military branch. You can also read a book where a character goes swimming, a book where someone needs rescued (bonus points if a helicopter is involved!), a book with water on its cover, or a book with either 17 or 90 in its page count.

6. Sleep Under the Stars Night – August 8: Those celebrating Global Sleep Under the Stars Night are encouraged to spend a night outside to enjoy the wonders the late summer sky beholds.
🌻 Read a book with a character who goes camping or spends a night outside for any reason. You can also read a book with an astronomer character (professional or amateur), a book classified as science-fiction romance on Goodreads, or a book with a night sky or stars on its cover.
 
7. Relaxation Day – August 15: Kick back with a book and relax! If you have something to do, it can surely wait for tomorrow.
🌻 Read a book where the characters spend time lazing around or doing a relaxing activity. You can also read a novella, a book with a summer-inspired cover (your interpretation), or a comfort-read from a favorite author.
 
8. Find Your Inner Nerd Day – August 23: Founded in 2024, Find Your Inner Nerd Day encourages you to flaunt your quirkiness while celebrating your interests and hobbies. Whether you’re a collector, a movie aficionado, a comic book reader, or just jam with everything geek, this day is for you!
🌻 Read a book with a nerdy/geeky/quirky character (your interpretation), or a character who is an avid collector, gamer, or involved in a fandom. You can also read a romantic graphic novel (some suggestions), or a book published in 2024.
 
9. Resurrect Romance Week: Exactly six months after Valentine’s Day, the second full week in August celebrates Resurrect Romance Week. This holiday encourages people to celebrate love and reinforce love for their partners by showing them how you feel.
🌻 Read a book that is a second-chance romance, or a book with an established couple who must repair their relationship. You can also read a book with a character who performs a “grand gesture” for their romantic partner, or a book with red or hearts on the cover.
