Ancient - between the 8th century BC and the 5th or 6th century AD
Medieval - from the 5th to the 15th century
Renaissance - from the 14th century to the 17th century (slight overlap with Medieval, your choice where to put it)
17th Century - falls between Renaissance and Georgian
Georgian - 1714 to around 1830–37
Regency - 1811 – 1820 subcategory of Georgian, but a genre all its own
Victorian - 1837 – 1901
American West - same time period as Victorian, but a very different genre than Victorian
20th century - a category of its own as it covers a span of time from horse and buggy to space travel
